Chicago, IL -- The Alter Group's (www.altergroup.com) Construction Services affiliate is transforming 50,000 SF of raw space within architect Louis Sullivan's legendary Carson, Pirie, Scott & Company flagship store into a corporate headquarters for Joseph Freed and Associates (www.josephfreed.com), the building's owner.
Ronald M. Clarkson, President, The Alter Group, Construction Services, announced the build-to-suit project.
The building -- renamed the Sullivan Center -- will accommodate a distinctive corporate headquarters office, one with 21st-century amenities within a celebrated 1898 Chicago landmark building. Inside the carefully restored classic exterior that celebrates the exuberant opulence of the Gilded Age, today's Sullivan Center users benefit from the building's complete systems renovation and leading-edge technology.
"This high-end tenant-improvement build-out is being planned and constructed on an unusually fast track. Construction started in March, and completion is expected by Labor Day -- just six short months later," Clarkson said.
"Alter Construction is closely coordinating with the architectural firms of Rossetti and Sullivan/Goulette, which will self-certify the work instead of submitting it to the lengthy building-permit process. This strategy will allow The Alter Group to deliver the unusually time-sensitive project on schedule."
Occupying almost a full city block at 108 South State Street, the Sullivan Center is well positioned in both size and location to support large office and retail users. The mixed-use building contains more than 1,000,000 SF, including 250,000 SF of retail and 750,000 SF of office and mixed-use space.
Joseph Freed and Associates develops retail, residential, office, hospitality, mixed-use, transit-oriented, vintage and historic restoration and urban infill projects in Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina and Wisconsin. The firm's current corporate headquarters is in Palatine, IL.
