Chicago, IL – The Alter Group (www.altergroup.com) has been named the developer and general contractor for the ambitious expansion of the Landmark Condominiums in Vail, CO. Ronald M. Clarkson, President, Construction Services, of The Alter Group, announced the project.
Construction started in the summer of 2008, and completion is expected in the spring of 2010. The luxury property is located at 610 West Lionshead Circle on the pedestrian mall, and just 100 yards from the world-famous Eagle Bahn Gondola.
“We originally became involved with this project when the board of directors of the Landmark Condominiums tapped The Alter Group’s Construction Services affiliate for our depth of experience in managing highly complicated real estate and construction projects,” Clarkson said. Their primary objective was to obtain professional design services; ownership and governmental approvals; and air-rights entitlements over the existing property to redevelop and enlarge the building.
“After our preliminary work proved successful, The Alter Group was chosen to act as developer and general contractor for the project,” Clarkson said.
The Landmark plans call for re-cladding the existing seven-story residential tower with stone; reconfiguring the roof line; adding a three-story 17-unit addition above the existing townhouses; adding new underground parking; constructing an elevator clock tower between the two buildings; and creating a new building entrance.
Architects for the project include Fritzlen Pierce of Vail, and Chicago-based A. Epstein & Sons, International, Inc. The interior architect is Torchia Associates, Inc., of Chicago.
The Alter Group’s Construction Services affiliate provides design/build, construction management, interior construction and program management services for corporate and institutional clients.
