Alter Group announces two high-concept restaurants at its 111 West Illinois Street in River North.

Chicago, IL – The Alter Group’s (www.altergroup.com) One11 West Illinois Street, www.111willinois.com a 10-story, 227,604 SF Class A office building in downtown Chicago’s dynamic River North neighborhood, will be home to two high-concept Asian restaurants -- Roka Akor and Bombay Spice – both new to the city’s dining scene.

Roka Akor, www.rokaakor.com a sushi and steak Japanese Robata grill restaurant, will lease 6,500 SF on One11 West Illinois’s first floor and is the upscale restaurant’s second venue in the United States. Currently, there are Roka Akor restaurants in Scottsdale, AZ; London; Macau; Dubai; and Hong Kong. Roka Akor, which is expected to open in January, will seat 190 patrons. Voted one of the top 10 sushi destinations in the United States by Bon Appetit, Roka Akor features specialty dishes like Wagyu sushi and mushroom hot pot.

The second restaurant is Bombay Spice Grill & Wine, www.bombayspice.com which will occupy 2,200 SF. Bombay Spice offers healthy dishes prepared without butter, ghee or cream. Bombay Spice, which is also expected to open in January, will seat 50 diners at a single time. A Bombay Spice restaurant is currently open in Phoenix.

JNK Concepts www.jnkconcepts.com is the parent company of both restaurants.

According to Art Mendoza, Vice President of Operations of JNK Concepts, his firm chose to bring Roka Akor and Bombay Spice to One111 West Illinois Street because of “the proximity to River North, a bustling area that is close to businesses and residential. This is a good market for us.”

“These two upscale Asian restaurants on One11 West Illinois Street’s street level will raise the building’s profile and cement its reputation as a desirable destination in the 24/7 River North neighborhood,” said Matthew A. Ward, Senior Vice President, The Alter Group.

One11 West Illinois Street was represented by Paul Bryant, Principal and Vice President of Mid-America Real Estate Group. JNK Concepts was represented by Adam Secher, Principal, and Steve Schwartz, Associate, with Baum Realty Group.

One11 West Illinois Street’s anchor is the Erikson Institute, one of the nation’s leading graduate schools dedicated to the education of child-development professionals, which occupies approximately 75,000 SF.

Designed by Martin F. Wolf, FAIA, Senior Principal with Solomon Cordwell Buenz & Associates, the building incorporates a suite of sustainable design and performance elements.
