More than a decade after it was first approved, a giant mixed-use development in northwest suburban Grayslake is finally underway.

Medline Industries agreed to be the first tenant at Cornerstone, a 641-acre site at Peterson Road and Route 83. The Northfield, Illinois-based manufacturer and distributor of medical supplies will occupy a 1.4M SF warehouse now under construction by The Alter Group, Cornerstone’s developer.

Medline, headquartered in Northfield, IL, plans to relocate its Libertyville operations to the new facility. In addition, the new Grayslake facility will add 250 more jobs to the company's operations.

CHICAGO—Officials of Peoria, IL-based Caterpillar Inc. made a big splash last week by announcing they would soon relocate to suburban Deerfield. Instead of leasing a new office in the CBD, Caterpillar reached a multi-year leasing agreement with Corporate 500 office park, and expects about 100 employees to relocate this year, with about 300 people in the new headquarters by mid-2018.
